Manchester City are poised for one of the most extravagant summers in the club's recent history, with reports suggesting they could complete as many as three transfers each worth in excess of €100 million before the window closes.

Manager Enzo Maresca, who replaced the legendary Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium earlier this summer, faces the task of returning City to the summit of English football after two consecutive seasons without a Premier League title. City finished third in a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, though they had been genuine contenders throughout much of the previous season before eventual champions Arsenal pulled clear.

Anderson leads the charge

The club's most significant piece of business so far has been the arrival of England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £116 million — a move designed in part to offset the departure of Bernardo Silva.

City have also wrapped up deals for 17-year-old Jeremy Monga from Leicester City for £12.5 million and 19-year-old winger Mathys Detourbet from Troyes for £21.7 million, bringing their total outlay this summer beyond £150 million.

Bouaddi and Diomande in the frame

The two biggest outstanding targets are Ayyoub Bouaddi and Yan Diomande — both teenagers who caught the eye at the FIFA World Cup this summer.

Bouaddi, 18, starred for Morocco in their run to the quarter-finals and is understood to have already agreed personal terms with City in principle. City are reportedly preparing a €90 million bid for the Lille midfielder, though Lille president Olivier Letang has signalled that the club will not let him go cheaply, with reports indicating they may demand a fee of at least €100 million.

Diomande, 19, impressed for Ivory Coast at the tournament, representing RB Leipzig. City are among several Premier League heavyweights said to be tracking the winger, alongside Liverpool, who reportedly saw a €100 million offer rejected by the German club. Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with interest, meaning any successful bid from City could far exceed that figure.

A summer total beyond £300 million

Should City complete moves for both Bouaddi and Diomande on top of their existing outlay, their total summer expenditure would surpass the £300 million mark — a remarkable statement of intent as Maresca looks to stamp his authority on one of European football's most decorated squads.
