Manchester City Lead the World Cup Club Rankings with 19 Players

Manchester City will send more players to the 2026 FIFA World Cup than any other club on the planet, with 19 players who last turned out for the Premier League side set to feature across squads in North America this summer.
That figure eclipses every other club in world football — not merely in England — marking a new record for representation from a single club at a World Cup, a milestone made possible in part by the tournament's expansion from 32 to 48 teams.
City's squads broken down
England account for four of those 19, with goalkeeper James Trafford, defenders Marc Guehi, Nico O'Reilly, and John Stones all named in Thomas Tuchel's 26-man squad. Stones, along with captain Bernardo Silva, will leave the club after the tournament.
Portugal carry three City players: Silva, defender Ruben Dias, and midfielder Matheus Nunes. The Netherlands and Croatia each contribute two — Tijjani Reijnders and Nathan Ake for the Dutch, Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol for Croatia.
The remaining City players are spread across eight nations: Erling Haaland with Norway, Omar Marmoush with Egypt, Rayan Cherki with France, Jeremy Doku with Belgium, Rodri with Spain, Rayan Ait-Nouri with Algeria, Antoine Semenyo with Ghana, and Abdukodir Khusanov with Uzbekistan.
How the other big clubs compare
Bayern Munich are second on the club standings with 18 players at the tournament, while Arsenal and Paris St-Germain share third place with 17 apiece — a notable pairing given PSG defeated Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final. Barcelona complete the top five with 15 players.
In total, 17 clubs will have ten or more players at the 2026 World Cup, five of them English.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Barcelona led all clubs with 17 players — itself a record at the time — while Manchester City and Bayern Munich were joint-second on 16. City also topped the standings at Russia 2018 with 16, ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona, who each had 14. City's tally of 19 this year surpasses all previous benchmarks.
