Manchester United faced Roma at Old Trafford in a UEFA Champions League fixture on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, with the hosts desperate to end a run of poor form that had stretched to nine matches without a win.

Manager Michael Carrick named his starting eleven with an eye on halting what threatened to become a ten-match winless streak — a milestone the club were anxious to avoid at all costs.

Roma arrived at Old Trafford as dangerous opponents, aware that a United side under pressure can be vulnerable, and the Italian club looked to exploit any uncertainty in the home ranks.

The match went to extra time, with neither side able to settle the contest within the 90 minutes, underlining just how evenly matched the two clubs were on the night.
