Manchester United have secured their first signing of the summer transfer window, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson set to join the club for a fee of £35 million — a figure that could rise to nearly £40 million through add-ons.
The Brazilian has agreed a four-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12-month extension, making him the first arrival since Michael Carrick was confirmed as permanent manager.
Replacing Casemiro in midfield
Ederson's arrival is widely seen as a direct response to the impending departure of fellow Brazilian and veteran midfielder Casemiro, whose exit is expected to leave a significant void in the heart of United's midfield.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that United are far from finished in the market this summer.
