Manchester United's difficult run of form deepened on Tuesday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away at Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, a result that stretches their winless streak to five matches.

Michael Carrick's side were in trouble from the outset, enduring a nightmare opening to the game that left them chasing the match for the remainder of the evening. The situation grew worse when Leny Yoro was shown a red card, leaving United to battle through a significant portion of the tie a man short.

The loss marks another damaging blow to United's European ambitions, with the squad unable to find a response at the Metropolitano against a well-organised Atlético Madrid side.
