Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has pushed back against criticism of his players' post-match celebrations at Anfield, following the club's commanding 3-0 Premier League victory over Liverpool on Sunday.
The win — City's first fixture since an independent commission found them guilty on all charges relating to serious financial rule breaches — was sealed by goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Rayan Cherki. City have since appealed the verdict and continue to deny any wrongdoing.
City's players were photographed celebrating with their travelling supporters at full-time, images that drew sharp criticism on social media given the timing of the result.
Maresca's response
Speaking ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, Maresca was blunt when asked to address the backlash.
