Martinez Back in Manchester United Squad After Apology Over Hierarchy Criticism

Lisandro Martinez is set to return to the Manchester United squad for Sunday's Premier League trip to Leeds United, following his public apology for criticising the club's hierarchy over a lack of investment in the transfer window.
Head coach Michael Carrick confirmed on Friday that the matter has been resolved, stating that everyone involved has moved on. Martinez's outspoken remarks came in the wake of Tuesday's 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, after which the Argentine defender publicly took aim at those running the club.
Meetings and apology
Before making his apology, Martinez met with club officials on Thursday — including Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada — as well as Carrick, to address the situation directly.
Speaking live on Sky Sports ahead of the Leeds United fixture, Carrick said: "He's released his statement and realised he made a mistake. That's enough for us to move on with. From our point of view, the acknowledgement of what's been done is enough to move on."
Carrick draws a line
Carrick was keen to put the episode behind him, emphasising that Martinez's acknowledgement of his error was sufficient for the club to look ahead. With a challenging away fixture at Leeds United on the horizon, United will be eager to redirect attention to matters on the pitch.
