Former Dundee United manager Ian McCall believes Rangers should not think twice about selling Emmanuel Fernandez if a substantial bid arrives for the Nigeria defender.

McCall made his views clear in comments to Ibrox News, suggesting the decision would be straightforward for the Ibrox club. "If you get a lot of money for Fernandez, it would be a no-brainer decision to sell," he said.

The ex-Dundee United boss pointed to recent defensive frailties as context for his remarks. Fernandez drew criticism after a shaky 1-1 draw with Dundee United and a costly error in a 2-1 defeat to Jagiellonia Bialystok.

A breakthrough season at Ibrox

Despite those setbacks, Fernandez completed a strong debut campaign for Rangers in the 2025–26 season, racking up 28 league appearances and anchoring the backline as the club finished third in the Scottish Premiership.

His performances did not go unnoticed on the international stage. Fernandez earned his maiden call-up to the Nigeria Super Eagles in March 2026, a reward for the consistent defensive displays that also raised his market value considerably.

Whether Rangers act on McCall's advice will depend on the size of any incoming offer — but the former manager's message is clear: the right price should be enough.
