Namibia secured their place in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifier on Tuesday, capping a flawless Group A campaign with a 3-0 victory over Seychelles. Meanwhile, host nation Mozambique dismantled Mauritius 5-0, with Alírio Cuna delivering a stunning hat-trick to become the tournament's top scorer.

Namibia's perfect run

The Young Warriors finished Group A unbeaten, accumulating nine points from three matches and keeping a clean sheet throughout — conceding no goals while scoring five. They had already beaten Mauritius and Mozambique 1-0 apiece before their final group fixture.

Against Seychelles, Rashid Naobeb broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, netting his second goal of the competition. The scoreline stayed at 1-0 through halftime before Mateus Ashitenda doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute. Lukas Sakeus sealed the result in the 78th minute, completing a third successive clean sheet for Namibia.

The victory sees Namibia join Zambia, who confirmed top spot in Group C on Monday, as the two semi-finalists confirmed so far.

Cuna stars for Mozambique

Mozambique's demolition of Mauritius was equally emphatic. Cuna opened the scoring in the 12th minute and struck again seven minutes later to give the hosts a commanding lead. Khensane Machel added a third in the 25th minute before the break.

Cuna completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute, taking his tally to five goals for the tournament. Rizan Romao added a fifth in stoppage time — in the 90+6' — making it the biggest margin of victory at the competition to date.

Mozambique now sit second in Group A with six points and a goal difference of +7, leaving them well placed to advance as the best runner-up. Seychelles finished third with three points, while Mauritius ended the group stage without a single point.

What's at stake on Wednesday

The final round of group-stage matches will determine the remaining semi-finalists. In Group B, defending champions South Africa — known as Amajita — lead the standings with six points and a perfect defensive record after wins over Lesotho and Angola. They face Eswatini at ABB Stadium 1 at 12h00 CAT (10h00 GMT), knowing a draw will secure top spot.

Eswatini, who beat Lesotho 3-2 in a dramatic earlier fixture, need a win to keep their qualification hopes alive. Angola, also on three points, take on Lesotho simultaneously at ABB Stadium 2 in a match with knockout-stage implications.

In Group C, Zambia have nothing left to prove but face Botswana at ABB Stadium 1 at 15h00 CAT (13h00 GMT). Malawi, on three points, must beat Comoros at ABB Stadium 2 in the same time slot to stay in contention for the best runner-up berth alongside Mozambique.

The top three group winners and the best runner-up advance to the semi-finals. The two finalists will earn a place at the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2027.
