The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has praised FIFA for its long-running commitment to developing football in the country, with President Robert Shimooshili highlighting both financial investment and institutional support as key drivers of the game's growth.

Over USD 4 million in FIFA Forward funding

The FIFA Forward Programme — FIFA's flagship development initiative launched in 2016 under President Gianni Infantino — has channelled more than USD 4 million into Namibian football. Among the projects funded, over USD 250,000 was used to install floodlights and solar panels at the NFA's Technical Centre at the Katutura Stadium. An artificial pitch was also installed in Omuthiya, in the north of the country.

Shimooshili expressed gratitude to Infantino for his role in brokering a Memorandum of Understanding signed in November last year between FIFA and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD). That agreement unlocks up to USD 1 billion in concessional loans for stadium infrastructure in developing countries, including Namibia.
