Newcastle have completed the signing of Ajax midfielder Sean Steur for a fee of £23m, with the 18-year-old committing to a five-year contract at St. James' Park.

The deal is structured as £20m upfront plus a further £3m in performance-related bonuses.

Steur becomes Newcastle's third arrival of the summer transfer window. He follows winger Bazoumana Toure, who joined from Hoffenheim for £42m, and goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, who made the move from Reims for £18m.

The additions come as Newcastle reshape their squad following a significant summer of departures. Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have both left the club, with the pair fetching a combined £169m.
