Nigerian Striker Chidera Michael Okoh Signs for Bulgarian Side Botev Plovdiv

Bulgarian First League outfit Botev Plovdiv have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Chidera Michael Okoh from Greek club Asteras Aktor, with the 23-year-old set to wear the No. 9 jersey in the 2026/27 season.
The club confirmed the deal on their official website, making Okoh their seventh acquisition of the summer transfer window. He arrives after a two-year stint at Asteras Aktor, where he turned out for both the first team and the reserve side.
A well-travelled career
Okoh began his football journey with Nigerian club Divine Praise before heading to Europe. He had spells with Czech outfit Slovan Liberec and Maltese side Mosta before joining Asteras Aktor in August 2024, earning this latest transfer to Bulgaria.
The six players who arrived at Botev Plovdiv ahead of Okoh — Asen Chandarov, Georgi Milanov, Dimitar Tonev, Todor Nedelev, Bogdan Kostov, and Timothy Awany — all joined as free agents.
Nigerian contingent in Plovdiv
Okoh will not be short of compatriots at his new club. Samuel Kalu, Chimezie Williams, Ifenna Dorgu, and Bryan Hein are already part of the Botev Plovdiv squad, giving the powerful striker a ready-made support network in the dressing room.
Botev Plovdiv will be counting on Okoh to hit the ground running as they seek to bolster their attack and mount a serious challenge in the Bulgarian First League this season.
