Nigerian forward Olashile Musa Lawal has completed a transfer to Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland, arriving from Nigerian academy side FC Ebedei. The 18-year-old will initially join the club's U-19 setup as he works toward breaking into the senior squad.
The move extends a well-established pipeline between FC Midtjylland and Nigerian football, with the Danish club having a track record of nurturing young talent from the country.
Lawal eager to make his mark
Speaking to FC Midtjylland's official website after completing his move, Lawal made clear how much the transfer means to him. "It means an incredible amount to me. Since I was little, I have dreamed of taking this very step," he said.
The forward described the move as a defining moment in his career, expressing a desire to contribute on the pitch from the outset. "I have a lot of goals for myself and I know this is a big step in the right direction for me. I want to help the team and show what I can do as part of the academy," he added.
Lawal also spoke of his enthusiasm for the environment he is entering. "I am really looking forward to becoming part of the team, and I look forward to developing as a player and learning from the others," he said.
FC Midtjylland backed the signing
Jonas Dal, Head of FCM Nigeria, gave a glowing assessment of the new recruit. "Olashile is a player you really want to have as part of your team. He has many different qualities; he can play both as a number 9 or a tall striker. He is incredibly skilled on the ball and also has impressive technique," Dal said.
Dal highlighted Lawal's physical profile as another key attribute. "He has a good physique and wins many of his duels, while also being fast. Now he will be part of the academy and we can work even more purposefully on developing him as a player," he continued.
"He is a very talented player, and we are incredibly happy that he has signed a contract with FC Midtjylland," Dal concluded.
