Nnadi Returns from Injury to Help Marseille Down Troyes 2-0

2 hours ago·1 min

Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi made a welcome return from injury as a second-half substitute, contributing to Olympique de Marseille's 2-0 victory over Troyes in a Ligue 1 fixture at the Stade de l'Aube on Sunday.

Nnadi, sidelined for much of the season with injury, entered the pitch in the 73rd minute to replace Kamissoko. The appearance was his third in the league this campaign, and he played a key role in steadying Marseille's midfield during the closing stages.

Harit breaks the deadlock

After a goalless first half in which neither side managed to gain the upper hand, Marseille found the breakthrough five minutes into the second period. Amine Harit latched onto a cross from Emerson Palmieri to give Bruno Genesio's men the lead in the 50th minute.

Troyes responded with determination, striking the woodwork twice and pressing hard for an equaliser, but Marseille's defensive shape held firm throughout — with Nnadi helping to shore up the middle of the park in the final minutes.

Abdelli seals it from the spot

Any lingering doubt about the outcome was extinguished deep into stoppage time when fellow substitute Himad Abdelli stepped up to convert a penalty in the 90th minute. The composed finish settled matters and confirmed all three points for the away side.

The result continues Marseille's strong run, while the comeback of Nnadi — one of the Super Eagles' most promising young midfielders — will be a significant boost for both club and country ahead of upcoming fixtures.
