Okoye Back in Udinese Training as Club Takes No Risks With Recovery
Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has returned to full training with Serie A side Udinese following his recovery from a shoulder injury sustained during the club's pre-season camp in Austria.
Okoye, 26, spent time on a rehabilitation programme overseen by Udinese's medical staff before rejoining his teammates on the training pitch. His return marks a significant step forward as preparations for the new season intensify.
Despite his return to group sessions, Okoye has not featured in any of Udinese's pre-season friendlies to date, and the club are in no hurry to change that. The Nigeria international is expected to sit out upcoming friendlies against Barcelona and Nottingham Forest, with the Zebras determined to allow him sufficient time to build full match fitness without risking a setback.
Udinese have made clear they will not rush their shot-stopper back into competitive action, prioritising a complete recovery over any short-term availability.
The target date for Okoye's competitive return is Saturday, August 15, when Udinese face Padova in the first round of the Coppa Italia — provided his recovery continues on schedule.
