Frank Lampard has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is fit and ready to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, handing Coventry City a welcome boost ahead of a daunting Premier League assignment.

Onyeka had been absent for Coventry's previous defeat to Hull City but has recovered fully in time to be considered for selection. Lampard kept his update brief and to the point when speaking to Coventry Live: "He is available for today."

A baptism of fire in the Premier League

The Nigerian international started the full 90 minutes as Coventry launched their Premier League return with a 3-0 loss to reigning champions Arsenal — a reminder of the enormous step up the club now faces week after week.

Lampard was candid about the scale of the task ahead. He acknowledged that his newly promoted side will enter the Etihad as heavy underdogs — a status they must learn to embrace across much of the campaign.

"You know the high, high talent level that they have," the Coventry manager said. "It will be a big challenge for us, but also a good challenge for us to go and see what we can do there."

Tactical work already underway

Despite the intimidating prospect of facing one of Europe's elite sides, Lampard struck a determined tone. He revealed that his coaching staff have studied Manchester City's threats in detail while also identifying areas where Coventry might cause problems of their own.

"We've worked on all the threats of Manchester City, and we've worked on where we feel we can give them problems when at our best," Lampard added.

He also stressed that a mindset shift is essential — the squad must come to terms with losing more frequently than they did during last season's promotion campaign, and treat each match against top opposition as an opportunity to grow.
