Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has added her voice to the chorus of praise for Super Eagles winger Moses Usor, whose breathtaking solo goal proved decisive in Nigeria's 2–1 victory over Madagascar in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Introduced from the bench, the 24-year-old LASK forward collected the ball and drove at the Madagascar defence before firing past the goalkeeper in the 65th minute — a goal that proved to be the match-winner in Uyo.

The strike was made all the more remarkable by the occasion: it was Usor's first senior cap, earned under head coach Eric Chelle, and he marked it by becoming an instant national hero.

How the match unfolded

Nigeria fell behind as early as the 16th minute when Madagascar exploited the Super Eagles' offside trap, leaving goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali helpless. The hosts, however, refused to fold.

George Ilenikhena, another debutant on the night, drew Nigeria level just before the break, racing onto a perfectly weighted pass from Alex Iwobi and finishing with composure.

Usor's thunderous effort in the second half then sealed all three points and sparked widespread celebration among Nigerian supporters.
