Osimhen Scores But Galatasaray Held to 3-3 Draw by Rennes in Pre-Season
Victor Osimhen found the net in a pre-season outing on Sunday, but it was not enough to earn Galatasaray a victory as they were held to a 3-3 draw by French club Rennes.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 18th minute, giving the Turkish side an early advantage. Rennes, however, hit back through Esteban Lepaul, who levelled matters in the 27th minute.
Galatasaray restored their lead four minutes into the second half when Gabriel Sara made it 2-1. The game appeared to be turning in the Turkish club's favour, but Lepaul had other ideas — the forward equalised again in the 58th minute before completing a hat-trick from the penalty spot just three minutes later.
Galatasaray refused to accept defeat and, deep into stoppage time, Baris Yilmaz stepped up to convert a penalty in the 94th minute to make it 3-3 and salvage a share of the points.
The result extends a difficult pre-season run for Galatasaray, who have now gone three games without a win. They were beaten 2-0 by Monza and suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Venezia ahead of Sunday's match.
