Milutin Osmajic has departed Preston North End to join Italian Serie A club Genoa, bringing an end to a turbulent three-season spell in England.

The Montenegro international, 27, completed the move for an undisclosed fee, having made 111 appearances for Preston and scored 31 goals.

A career marked by controversy

Osmajic's time at Preston was repeatedly overshadowed by disciplinary trouble. In October 2024, he received an eight-game ban after being found guilty of biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck.

The problems did not stop there. Four months later, he was accused of racially abusing Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri during a Championship fixture — a charge that eventually resulted in a nine-match suspension handed down last November.

Returning from that ban, Osmajic lasted only four Championship matches before being sent off for violent conduct as Preston trailed 3-0 at home to Hull City.

He featured in Preston's opening-day Championship defeat at Bolton Wanderers this season, but played no part in the home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday — his final involvement with the club before the transfer was confirmed.

Genoa now acquire a forward who, despite the controversy, demonstrated consistent goal-threat in the Championship across three seasons.
