Paredes Banned for 10 Games After World Cup Final Clashes

Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has received a 10-match ban from FIFA's disciplinary committee following the on-field clashes that erupted after Argentina were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.
Paredes' team-mate Nahuel Molina has also been suspended, receiving a seven-match ban for his involvement in the same incidents.
Beyond the individual punishments, Argentina as a nation have been ordered to stage their next two home matches behind closed doors. One match of that sanction, however, has been suspended, meaning the team will play at least one home fixture without supporters in attendance.
The rulings mark the most significant disciplinary fallout from what was an intense and contested conclusion to the 2026 World Cup final.
