Former Nigeria international Obafemi Abiodun has described the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal as an important examination for the Super Eagles as the team embarks on a fresh rebuilding cycle.
A demanding double bill
Nigeria face Poland at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw on Wednesday — a 58,000-capacity venue that will host only the second senior meeting between the two nations. Their sole previous encounter came on March 23, 2018, when Nigeria claimed a 1-0 win in a World Cup warm-up in Wroclaw, with Victor Moses scoring the decisive goal.
The Super Eagles then travel to Leiria to meet European heavyweights Portugal on June 10, a fixture that rounds off a stern double test for coach Chelle's evolving squad.
Abiodun's verdict
Speaking to Completesports.com, Abiodun argued that the results themselves matter less than what the performances reveal about the players' character and readiness.
