Queiroz Backs Partey Selection Despite Ongoing Legal Case

4 days ago·1 min

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed any reservations about selecting Thomas Partey for the Black Stars' World Cup preparations, insisting the decision is his alone and that the judicial process must be allowed to run its course.

Partey, 32, has pleaded not guilty to seven charges of rape and one count of sexual assault, relating to allegations made by four women covering events between 2020 and 2022. He is due to stand trial next year.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who now plays for Spanish club Villarreal, is currently in the UK as part of a 28-man Ghana squad set to face Wales in an international friendly at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, 2 June, kicking off at 19:45 BST.
