Raja Club Athletic and Primeiro de Agosto Advance to CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage

Raja Club Athletic booked their place in the 2026-27 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage with a commanding 4-2 aggregate victory over Nigeria's El Kanemi Warriors, sealed by two late strikes at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The tie had been delicately poised heading into the second leg. Raja had returned from Ikenne with a 2-2 draw from the first leg, meaning a goalless night at home would have been enough to see them through. For long stretches, that appeared to be the likely outcome.
Barkok's free kick breaks the deadlock
El Kanemi Warriors pushed deep into the contest and threatened to make things uncomfortable for the hosts, but the "Green Eagles" silenced any nerves in the 88th minute when Aymen Barkok stepped up to curl a superb free kick into the net. The midfielder's effort all but confirmed Raja's progression to the group stage.
Any lingering doubt was extinguished five minutes into stoppage time, when Portuguese defender Marian Huja doubled the advantage to make it 2-0 on the night — and 4-2 on aggregate. Raja finished the evening in style.
As two-time TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup champions, Raja now set their sights on a third title when the group stage begins.
Primeiro de Agosto complete the double over DC Virunga
In Luanda, Primeiro de Agosto confirmed their group-stage berth with a 1-0 victory over DR Congo's DC Virunga at Franca Ndalu Stadium, advancing 3-1 on aggregate after their 2-1 first-leg win in Kinshasa.
The match was scoreless at half-time, with the decisive moment arriving in the 87th minute. Mabilson struck the only goal of the game, sending Primeiro de Agosto through with three minutes to spare.
The Angolan giants, who reached the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals back in 2009, will now await the group-stage draw to discover their opponents for the next phase of the competition.
