Nigerian champions Rangers International have confirmed that defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has come through a scheduled surgical procedure, with the club calling for a smooth recovery as he embarks on rehabilitation.

The Flying Antelopes shared the news on their official X account, writing: "Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has successfully undergone his scheduled procedure. We wish him a smooth and speedy recovery as he begins the rehabilitation process. The entire Rangers family stands firmly behind him and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch."

A frustrating injury saga

Onyebuchi first picked up the injury during a Nigeria Premier Football League clash against Bendel Insurance, a setback that ruled him out of the 2024 African Nations Championship.

The centre-back went through an initial round of treatment and rehabilitation and appeared to have recovered sufficiently to return to competitive action. However, he aggravated the injury during a pre-season fixture in August, forcing him to undergo this latest surgical intervention.

Rangers will now hope their dependable defender makes a full recovery and returns to the pitch as swiftly as possible.
