Rangers International Rally Fans for CAF Champions League Clash with MC Alger
Rangers International have urged their supporters to pack the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex on Sunday as the Nigerian champions prepare to face Algerian outfit MC Alger in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Kick-off is set for 2pm Nigerian time, with the Flying Antelopes eager to make home advantage count in the first leg of this continental tie.
A call to national pride
General Manager and CEO Amobi Ezeaku made a direct appeal to Nigerians to rally behind the club, describing a full stadium as essential to fuelling the team's ambitions on the continental stage.
"The presence and encouragement of the fans will inspire the players to deliver a spirited performance," Ezeaku said, stressing that a strong result at home would be critical before the return leg.
Ezeaku framed the fixture as far more than a football match — positioning Rangers as carriers of the hopes, pride, and aspirations of Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole on the African stage.
How Rangers got here
The Enugu club earned their place in this round after a tense opening-round contest against Sobemap of Benin Republic. The two-legged tie finished 2-2 on aggregate before Rangers advanced 4-3 on penalties under coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.
Now they face a sterner test in MC Alger, with the outcome of Sunday's first leg likely to shape the tone of the entire tie heading into the return fixture.
