Real Madrid have issued a firm denial of reports claiming the Spanish giants were pursuing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, insisting they have held no "direct or indirect contact" with the 24-year-old, his representatives, or anyone from his circle.
The club released a statement on Saturday rejecting speculation that they were preparing a bid in excess of 200 million euros (£173 million) for the France international. Real Madrid also stressed the strong institutional ties they maintain with Bayern Munich, expressing regret that baseless rumours had been allowed to circulate.
In the statement, the club underlined that any potential interest in a player registered to another club must first be communicated between the two organisations — not via the press or third parties.
Olise's outstanding season
The denial comes as Olise is enjoying one of the finest individual campaigns in European football. The winger registered 22 goals and 31 assists for Bayern Munich across all competitions in 2025-26, cementing his place as one of the most productive attackers on the continent.
He is also a central figure in France's squad at the FIFA World Cup 2026, having set up Kylian Mbappe's opening goal in France's 3-1 victory over Senegal in their opening group-stage fixture.
Real Madrid's busy summer
Under new manager Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid have been active in the transfer market. The club have already secured Bernardo Silva on a free transfer, signed full-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for £52 million, and are set to add Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate once his contract expires at the end of this month.
However, not every target has materialised. Atletico Madrid rejected a 150 million euro (£130 million) approach from their city rivals for striker Julian Alvarez.
That pursuit followed a pledge by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to invest 150 million euros in a high-profile signing — a so-called "galactico" — after being re-elected to the presidency. Perez secured 65 percent of the vote earlier this month, extending his tenure at the club until 2030. He has been in office continuously since 2009.
