Real Madrid Sign Denzel Dumfries From Inter Milan on Four-Year Deal
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Netherlands right-back Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, tying him to the club until 30 June 2030.
The Spanish giants confirmed the move in an official statement on Sunday, announcing that the two clubs had reached an agreement for the transfer of the 30-year-old. Reports indicate Madrid activated Dumfries's release clause, which stood at €20 million.
"Real Madrid C.F. and Inter Milan have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Denzel Dumfries, who will be linked to our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030,"the club wrote on their official website.
Fourth summer arrival at the Bernabéu
Dumfries becomes Real Madrid's fourth signing of the summer, following Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konate. His arrival is expected to provide direct competition for England international Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
The Dutch defender joined Inter Milan from PSV in 2021 and went on to have a highly productive spell with the Nerazzurri. In 207 appearances, he contributed 27 goals and 28 assists, and played a key role in helping the club claim two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies.
At international level, Dumfries helped the Netherlands advance to the final 32 at this summer's World Cup.
Mourinho era begins as Madrid rebuild
The arrival of Dumfries forms part of a wider effort to reinforce Real Madrid after they ended last season without silverware. Club president Florentino Perez, who was re-elected to the role, pledged to bolster the squad's defensive depth — a promise he has been making good on with each new addition.
Madrid have also appointed Jose Mourinho as manager for a second spell at the club. During his first tenure, Mourinho guided the team to La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
