Riquelme Insists Haaland and Rodri Will Sign for Real Madrid

yesterday·1 min

Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme is doubling down on his campaign pledge to sign Erling Haaland and Rodri from Manchester City, citing a release clause in Haaland's contract and presenting signed documents to support his claims.

Riquelme is mounting a serious challenge against incumbent president Florentino Pérez in the upcoming Real Madrid elections, with the promise of marquee signings forming the centrepiece of his bid.

City push back — and so does Haaland's camp

Manchester City have firmly rejected Riquelme's assertions, insisting no release clauses exist in Haaland's contract. The club is also exploring legal action over the use of their players' names in the Spanish presidential campaign.

Haaland's agents — Rafaela Pimenta and his father Alfie — have equally distanced themselves from the claims, describing the reports as unfounded.

Riquelme stands firm

Despite the pushback, Riquelme has refused to back down. In a post on X, he drew parallels with one of football's most notorious transfer sagas to defend his position.
