Katia Aveiro, sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, has confirmed that the FIFA World Cup 2026 will mark the end of her brother's international career with Portugal. Speaking on SportTV, she urged supporters to savour every remaining moment of his time in the national shirt.

'We have to enjoy these moments. It's the last dance for two players, both for Croatia and for Portugal. The most important thing is to enjoy these 20-odd years that we've lived, won, and come so far,' Aveiro said.

A farewell to remember

When pressed on whether Ronaldo might still appear for Portugal at Euro 2028, Aveiro left no room for doubt. 'From the information I have, they can say goodbye. Enjoy it while it lasts. It's not today that they're saying goodbye, but it's soon. I believe this is their farewell,' she said.

Aveiro, who attended the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is present again this summer, spoke with conviction about her brother's mental state ahead of Portugal's campaign. 'Ronaldo is great and confident, less nervous than us. I felt a good energy and confidence. For us fans, it brings comfort. We can trust,' she added.

Over 20 years at the top

The pride in Aveiro's words was unmistakable as she reflected on a career spanning more than two decades. 'He's been tearing it up for over 20 years,' she said, pushing back against critics who have questioned Ronaldo's legacy. 'Do they think the criticism will interfere with our happiness? Never.'

She also issued a passionate challenge to detractors of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. 'For intelligent people, those who like football have to like Ronaldo. Those who don't like Ronaldo don't like football. They're the ones who lose out,' Aveiro said.

Her message to supporters around the world was simple and direct: 'Enjoy it a lot. It will be difficult to find someone like him.'
