Saka Returns to Full England Training Ahead of Ghana Clash

1 hour ago·1 min

Bukayo Saka has rejoined full England training, offering manager Thomas Tuchel a welcome boost ahead of Tuesday's FIFA World Cup group stage match against Ghana in Boston.

The Arsenal forward missed part of Saturday's session, completing only individual work rather than training alongside his teammates. By Sunday, however, Saka was back in the fold for the squad's penultimate preparation session before the Ghana fixture.

Saka came off the bench in England's opening group game — a 4-2 victory over Croatia — as he continues to manage an Achilles tendinitis problem. Tuchel has indicated that a starting berth is unlikely to materialise for Saka until the third group match against Panama.

An ongoing issue

The 24-year-old has been dealing with the Achilles complaint for some time. There were concerns within Arsenal over the niggle during the season's closing weeks, though the club considered him fit enough to feature consistently through their title run-in.

Arsenal clinched their first Premier League title in 22 years at the end of that campaign, and it is understood Saka's condition has not worsened since the domestic season concluded. England and Tuchel will be hopeful that careful management continues to keep the attacker available as the tournament progresses.
