Sarr Vows Senegal Will Bounce Back in Must-Win Iraq Clash

1 hour ago·1 min

Ismaila Sarr has struck a defiant tone after Senegal's 3-2 defeat to Norway at the FIFA World Cup 2026, insisting the Teranga Lions are not done yet and will go all out to beat Iraq in their final group game.

The loss — Senegal's second at the tournament — came in a thrilling encounter at the New York/New Jersey Stadium and leaves Pape Thiaw's side facing elimination unless they win their last group fixture.

Norway and France advance

The defeat confirms Norway's place in the Round of 32 alongside France, with both sides now through from the group. Holmgren Pedersen and Manchester City forward Erling Haaland were on target for Norway on the night.

Sarr was the one bright spark for Senegal, netting both of his side's goals in a closely fought contest. Despite the result, the winger refused to concede that the tournament was over for his country.
