Antoine Semenyo has called on Ghana Black Stars to remain grounded after their 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage match, warning that the challenge ahead only grows harder.
Caleb Yirenkyi sealed the three points with a stoppage-time goal, giving Carlos Queiroz's side a winning start in Group L. Semenyo, who was named Man of the Match, acknowledged the win did not come easily.
"We know it's going to be a tough game," Semenyo said, already looking ahead to the Black Stars' next fixture. "We are not going to be ahead of ourselves. We want to win that game, but we know it's not going to be easy."
Ghana's next test comes against England at Gillette Stadium next Tuesday. The Black Stars currently sit second in Group L, with England occupying top spot.
The victory over Panama marks an encouraging start for Queiroz's squad, but Semenyo's measured tone reflects the scale of the task that awaits — facing a formidable England side will demand everything the West Africans have to offer.
