FIFA Legend Sergio Ramos has expressed pride and affection for Monterrey, the Mexican city where he spent his most recent professional season, as it prepares to host the 1,000th match in FIFA World Cup history.
On Saturday, 20 June, Japan and Tunisia will face each other at Monterrey Stadium in what will be a milestone moment for the world's most celebrated tournament. Ramos knows the FIFA World Cup's magic better than most — he represented Spain across four editions and lifted the trophy as a starter in the triumphant La Roja squad at South Africa 2010.
Four World Cups and a winner's medal
Ramos reflected on what those tournament appearances meant to him personally.
