South Africa's Makhanya Signs for Rangers as Club's Eighth Summer Arrival

South Africa centre-back Olwethu Makhanya has completed a move to Rangers from Philadelphia Union for an undisclosed fee, becoming the Scottish club's eighth signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old made 53 appearances for the Major League Soccer outfit after forcing his way into their first team last season, and now makes the step up to European football.
Makhanya began his career at Stellenbosch in South Africa before earning his move to MLS, and his performances earned him a place in South Africa's squad for the 2026 World Cup finals this summer.
Although he did not feature in a single minute of the tournament, Rangers manager Derek McInnes is convinced the defender has the qualities needed to succeed in Scottish football.
