Summer Transfer Window 2025: Key Deadlines for Europe's Top Leagues

2 hours ago·1 min

The summer transfer window for Premier League and EFL clubs will shut at 23:00 BST on Tuesday, 1 September, marking the hard deadline for all incoming and outgoing deals in England's professional football pyramid.

The window first reopened this year on Monday, 15 June. FIFA regulations cap the total length of any transfer window at 16 weeks within a single calendar year.

England's deadline returns to midnight slot

Last season, English football authorities moved the closing time to 19:00 in an effort to align it with standard working hours. That experiment has since been reversed, and the 23:00 deadline is back in place for the current campaign.

Deadlines across Europe

Spain, Germany, and Italy share the same closing date as England — 1 September — though their windows shut earlier in the evening. Ligue 1 clubs in France face a tighter timeline, with their window closing a full day earlier on 31 August.

Scotland and the Women's Super League

Scottish clubs have additional time to finalise their squads, with their deadline set at 17:00 on Thursday, 3 September. The Women's Super League transfer window follows the same schedule, also closing on 3 September.
