Nigeria's Super Eagles were back on the training pitch on Saturday, a day after their hard-fought 2-1 win over Madagascar in the opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Coach Éric Chelle's squad held a light recovery session at the practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with all 24 players in camp taking part as the team shifts its focus toward Tuesday's Matchday 2 fixture against Guinea-Bissau.

Eyes on Bissau

The Super Eagles are set to intensify preparations on Sunday before travelling to Guinea-Bissau for the Group L encounter. Nigeria will face the Djurtus at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Tuesday.

The match carries added weight: Guinea-Bissau currently top Group L on goal difference, having beaten Tanzania 2-0 in their opening fixture. Nigeria sit second, level on points, following their victory over Madagascar.

A win for the Super Eagles in Bissau would move them to the summit of the group and strengthen their grip on qualification for the tournament.

The group's other Matchday 2 fixture will see Madagascar host Tanzania on Tuesday, meaning the standings could shift significantly by the end of the round.
