Twenty players have reported to the Super Eagles' base in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, as Nigeria begins preparations for two crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

Head coach Éric Chelle arrived alongside his backroom staff to formally open camp on Monday at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene. A full training session is scheduled for Monday evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with the first 15 minutes open to the media and members of the public.

More players expected

Captain Wilfred Ndidi, winger Samuel Chukwueze, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali had not yet arrived at the time of reporting but were expected to link up with the squad later on Monday.

Fixtures and ambitions

Nigeria will host Madagascar's Barea at home on Friday before travelling to Bissau to take on Guinea-Bissau's Djurtus the following Tuesday. The Super Eagles are targeting a strong start to their qualifying campaign as they look to book a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
