Super Eagles Make Two Late Changes Ahead of Russia Friendly

Nigeria coach Éric Chelle has reshuffled his Super Eagles squad, calling up two fresh faces to replace injured or unavailable players ahead of next Tuesday's international friendly against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Midfielder John Otomewo and defender Vince Osuji have been handed call-ups as replacements for captain Wilfred Ndidi and Akpe Victory, who have dropped out of the squad.
Fresh faces from France and Norway
Otomewo arrives having recently joined French Ligue 2 outfit Stade de Reims from Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Jerusalem. The midfielder will be eager to impress on what could be his first senior international appearance.
Centre-back Osuji, meanwhile, is plying his trade in Norway with Tromsø. Like Otomewo, he will be hoping to use the occasion to earn his first cap for the Super Eagles.
A familiar opponent
Nigeria and Russia are no strangers — the two sides met earlier this year, playing out a 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 6, 2025. Chelle's men will be looking to go one better when they return to Russian soil next Tuesday.
