Super Eagles Touch Down in Moscow for Russia Friendly

Nigeria's Super Eagles have landed in the Russian capital ahead of Tuesday's international friendly against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Team officer Promise Efoghe confirmed the Nigerian delegation touched down in Moscow on Friday afternoon, setting the stage for what will be only the second full international meeting between the two nations.
A rematch from earlier this year
The sides previously met in June 2025, sharing a 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. That result means Éric Chelle's men will be eager to go one better and claim a first victory over Russia at senior level.
The Super Eagles arrive carrying some baggage — they suffered a damaging defeat to Guinea-Bissau's Djurtus in their most recent outing, a result that has piled pressure on Chelle's squad to respond.
Squad changes ahead of the fixture
Chelle has been forced into two alterations to his original selection. Captain Wilfred Ndidi and Akpe Victory have both withdrawn from the squad, with John Otomewo and Vince Osuji drafted in as their replacements.
The game in Nizhny Novgorod represents a fresh opportunity for the Super Eagles to rebuild momentum and confidence before their next competitive assignments.
