Tottenham Hotspur are still without a Premier League goal this season after a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, leaving Roberto De Zerbi's side mired in early-season concern.

The stalemate means Spurs have failed to score in each of their first three league fixtures — the first time the club has managed that since 1980. Defeats to Brentford and Newcastle had already heaped pressure on the squad following a transfer window in which Tottenham Hotspur spent close to £400 million.

VAR denies Forest the winner

Nottingham Forest came closest to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by VAR. Neco Williams appeared to have bundled the ball over the line from close range, but the effort was ruled out after a review determined he had used his hand in the process.

The intervention proved decisive — without it, Tottenham Hotspur would have suffered a fourth consecutive defeat to begin the Premier League campaign, deepening what is already a troubling start to the season.

Pressure mounts at Spurs

The summer's enormous investment has so far yielded no return on the pitch. Three games played, no goals scored, no points collected from the opening two matches — the numbers make grim reading for Tottenham Hotspur supporters and for De Zerbi, who faces mounting questions about when his side will finally find the net.

Nottingham Forest, for their part, will feel the point is a missed opportunity given how close Williams came to winning the game before VAR intervened at The City Ground.
