Tottenham Seal Free Transfer Signing of Andy Robertson After Liverpool Exit

8 hours ago·1 min

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the arrival of Andy Robertson, who will join the club on July 1 after his Liverpool contract expires on June 30.

The 32-year-old Scotland captain departs Anfield as one of the most decorated players in Liverpool's modern history, having won nine major trophies during his time at the club.

A farewell at Anfield

Liverpool supporters gave Robertson a send-off on the final day of the Premier League season, as the Reds drew 1-1 with Brentford. It marked the end of a nine-year chapter that began when Robertson arrived from Hull in 2017.

During his time at Anfield, the left-back played a central role in two Premier League title-winning campaigns — in 2019/20 and 2024/25 — as well as two UEFA Champions League triumphs in 2018/19 and 2021/22.

Spurs survive, then strengthen

Tottenham's summer recruitment comes after a difficult season in which the north London club avoided relegation to the Sky Bet Championship by just two points. Robertson's experience and proven quality at the highest level represents a significant addition.

The Scotland international had attracted interest from Atletico Madrid last summer, but that move never came to fruition, leaving the door open for Tottenham to secure his services on a free transfer.
