Tottenham have secured the signature of defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, with the Argentina international set to officially join the club on July 1 when his Bournemouth contract expires.

Senesi, 29, spent four seasons at Bournemouth, making 128 appearances in all competitions and contributing six goals and 10 assists during his time at the Cherries.

The centre-back attracted interest from clubs in LaLiga and Serie A, but his preference was to remain in the Premier League — and a move to London proved the decisive factor in his decision.

Tottenham will add Senesi to their defensive options at no transfer cost, with the deal representing a shrewd piece of business as he arrives with considerable top-flight experience.
