Trabzonspor Open Talks to Sign Mohamed Salah as Free Agent

2 hours ago·1 min

Turkish club Trabzonspor have confirmed they are in negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah, the Egypt forward who departed Liverpool when his contract expired at the end of last season.

Salah, 34, is in discussions with the club to join on a free transfer, and Trabzonspor announced in an official statement that he is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday, with a subsequent journey to Trabzon planned for the same evening.

The club said further details about the welcome programme — including timings — would be communicated through its official channels during the day.

A decorated spell at Liverpool

Salah's time at Liverpool stands as one of the most successful individual runs in the club's history. He joined from Roma in June 2017 and went on to spend nine years at Anfield, collecting an extraordinary list of honours along the way.

Among his trophies with Liverpool are two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and two EFL Cups, as well as the Community Shield.

World Cup exit with Egypt

On the international stage, Salah helped Egypt reach the round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where they were eliminated in a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Argentina — who went on to reach the final of the tournament.
