Tuchel Admits England Were Unlucky to Draw Blank Against Ghana

England manager Thomas Tuchel has conceded that his side were unfortunate not to take all three points from their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group L clash with Ghana, which ended in a goalless draw at Gillette Stadium in Boston.
England came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock late in the contest when substitute Nico O'Reilly rose to meet a cross and headed against the crossbar. The rebound landed directly at the feet of captain Harry Kane, who — in an uncharacteristic moment — sent his shot sailing over the bar.
Tuchel points to missed moments
Speaking to Sporty TV after the final whistle, Tuchel acknowledged that England controlled possession for long stretches but were ultimately denied by a combination of woodwork, poor finishing, and Ghana's disciplined backline.
The German coach also admitted that his team failed to replicate the free-flowing attacking play they had produced in their opening win over Croatia, suggesting the performance fell short of his expectations in key moments.
