Unal Returns to Getafe After Injury-Hit Bournemouth Spell

1 hour ago·1 min

Enes Unal has departed Bournemouth to rejoin Getafe, the Spanish club where he previously made his name, bringing an end to a largely injury-disrupted chapter in the Premier League.

The Turkey international, 29, departs on a free transfer. Bournemouth retain a 20 percent sell-on clause and could also collect up to £1.3m in performance-related bonuses.

Unal first arrived at the Vitality Stadium on loan from Getafe in January 2024, before Bournemouth made the deal permanent for approximately £13m later that same year. However, a string of injuries limited his impact on the south coast — he managed 58 appearances for the Cherries, contributing five goals.

A fond farewell from the Cherries

Bournemouth paid tribute to the striker in an official club statement, describing him as a well-liked presence inside the dressing room.
