Vinícius Júnior's substitute appearance against Villarreal turned into a rollercoaster on Saturday, as the Brazilian forward had a goal ruled out by VAR before being shown a red card in Real Madrid's LaLiga victory.

Coming off the bench, Vinícius made an immediate impact — but not entirely in the way Real Madrid would have hoped. His strike was initially celebrated before the Video Assistant Referee intervened and chalked it off, leaving the Bernabéu stunned.

The drama did not end there. Shortly after seeing his goal disallowed, Vinícius was dismissed from the field following an incident involving a hair pull, compounding a miserable cameo for one of the world's most recognisable footballers.

Despite the chaos surrounding their star forward, Real Madrid held on to claim the three points against Villarreal, maintaining their position among LaLiga's frontrunners.
