West Bromwich Albion have secured the signature of striker Barney Stewart from Scottish Premiership club Falkirk, with the fee remaining undisclosed. The 22-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns, becoming head coach James Morrison's first piece of transfer business this summer.
Stewart broke into first-team football at Falkirk in January 2025, going on to feature 15 times as the club climbed out of the second tier and into the Scottish Premiership. His form during a loan spell at Dunfermline Athletic in the first half of last season was equally sharp — eight goals in 12 Championship appearances — before he returned to Falkirk and contributed 10 goals across 21 league and cup outings.
Morrison connection a key factor
Stewart, who has represented Scotland at Under-21 level, pointed to Morrison's international pedigree as a decisive influence in his decision to move south. The former midfielder earned 46 caps for Scotland during his playing career.
