Wolves Bring Back Jimenez on Free Transfer as Championship Rebuild Begins

last week·1 min

Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a two-year deal to re-sign striker Raul Jimenez on a free transfer from Fulham, with an option to extend for a further year at Molineux.

The 35-year-old completed his medical and will return to the club he previously represented between 2018 and 2023, during which time he scored 57 goals in 166 appearances after joining from Benfica.

A familiar face for a new chapter

Jimenez becomes Wolves' second free signing of the summer, following former England full-back Kieran Trippier — also 35 — who committed to a two-year deal after departing Newcastle United.

The Mexican striker's return comes as Wolves prepare for life in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season, when they finished bottom of the table. It will be their first campaign in the second tier since 2017-18.

Jimenez was named on Monday among the group of Fulham players whose contracts expire at the end of June, freeing him to return to the West Midlands club at no cost.

Mexico duty before Molineux return

The deal was confirmed while Jimenez is on international duty with Mexico, one of the co-hosts of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Mexico are scheduled to open their tournament against South Africa on Thursday.

With Trippier and Jimenez now both on board, Wolves have moved decisively to assemble experience for their Championship campaign as the club looks to secure a swift return to the top flight.
