Wolves Fightback Sinks Burnley as Winless Home Run Passes One Year

2 hours ago·1 min

Burnley's nightmare run without a home win has stretched beyond the 12-month mark after Wolverhampton Wanderers came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory at Turf Moor on Friday.

The defeat means the Clarets have now gone 21 Championship matches at home without a win — the longest such run across England's top four divisions. Their last home victory came on October 18, 2025, when they beat Leeds 2-0 in the Premier League. Since that day, Burnley have lost 11 and drawn 10 at Turf Moor.

Jamie Vardy gave Nicky Hayen's side the lead in the 20th minute, scoring his first goal in English football since making his return to the game last month. The veteran striker converted to put the hosts in front and, briefly, in dreamland.

Defensive errors prove costly

That dream unravelled in the second half. Fer Lopez drew Wolves level in the 39th minute before Tawanda Chirewa settled the contest in the 72nd minute, both goals stemming from Burnley defensive errors that the visitors ruthlessly punished.

The turnaround handed Wolves their first win in three matches and propelled them up to sixth place in the Sky Bet Championship table. For Burnley, the wait for a home win goes on — and on.
