Nigeria legend Mutiu Adepoju has applauded the Super Eagles following their triumphant run at the 2026 Unity Cup in London, stating that the team showed a new level of seriousness and discipline across their two fixtures at the tournament.

Speaking exclusively to Completesports.com, the former midfielder — affectionately nicknamed 'Headmaster' — said Nigeria's wins over Zimbabwe and Jamaica were encouraging signs of genuine progress under head coach Eric Chelle, with the 2027 AFCON qualifiers on the horizon.

Adepoju admitted he did not watch Saturday night's final, a 3-0 victory over Jamaica at The Valley, Charlton, but said the overall returns from both matches spoke for themselves.
